After South Korean electronics maker LG launched the LG G4 smartphone this year, rumors about its successor, the LG G5, surfaced instantly.
Fans of processing power will be happy to know that the latest flagship handset from LG might pack the mighty Snapdragon 820 chipset.
If the sources turn out to be accurate, the LG G5 will not come into the spotlight alone. The LG G5 Pro is expected to make its debut as well, and it will holster a larger display and an even stronger configuration, with a 1.8 GHz hexa-core Snapdragon 820 SoC.
Unofficial information about the LG G5 indicates that the phone is sizeable, but not big enough to be a truly large phablet. In terms of portability, that is a definitive plus. Its 5.6-inch screen reportedly has True HD display resolution, which means that the screen will deliver a 4K level of sharpness.
Sources speculate that the device is expected to have two cameras, both technologically impressive.
A 20-megapixel snapper on the back of the gizmo will allow for shooting 4K videos and will be the bread and butter for smartphone photography enthusiasts. Meanwhile, the front-facing camera of 10 megapixels will probably see thousands of selfies in its lifetime. Another interesting feature on the smaller camera is the Iris Scanner, which adds extra security to the smartphone and makes it possible for you to unlock it with your eye.
To be in line with today's flagships, LG G5 should support GPS, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and NFC. Rumors state that evolved Touch ID-like technology is also embedded in the device, as are the light, gravity, and proximity sensors. Sources say that smile, multi-gesture and face detection will be integral parts of the camera sensors as well.
Next to the anticipated Snapdragon 820 processor, LG customers will find 3GB or 4GB RAM, but the latter seems more probable since this is a flagship phone. As for storage space, buyers will be able to choose one of three variants: 32GB, 64GB or 128GB variants will be available for LG G5.
Hints from the production chain suggest that such majestic specs require a power source to match. Therefore, it is rumored that the LG G5 will sport a hefty 4,000mAh battery.
The U.S. price for LG G5 is estimated to reach a hefty $900.
Some expect the LG G5 to be released until the end of the year, in November or before Christmas at the latest.
LG kept mum about such plans and offered official information regarding the launch of the LG G5, so the information should be looked at with a degree of skepticism.
